Painted rather than embroidered, these mantas use traditional mahogany-bark dye (ani kené technique) to draw the geometric song-patterns directly onto cotton. Faster to produce than embroidery but just as alive — the ink is mixed by hand and each line is drawn freehand by a Shipibo master designer.
